Recreation of a Famous Photo

Recreation of the EARTHRISE photo by Doreen McMahon

This project challenged me to recreate a historically significant photograph, focusing on composition, lighting, and symbolism. I carefully tore a sheet of paper, which I had manipulated with a Tea dye, to mimic an planetary landscape, and wrapped a tinfoil ball in the matching background fabric in an effort to recreate the elements shown in the original photo. As this assignment was to only use your camera to show the recreation, no post editing was applied. By carefully staging and editing the image, I gained insight into how photography can preserve memory and convey meaning. The recreation reflects both technical skill and creative interpretation.
